Hi! I’m Rachaeldaisy,
I’m an Australian quilter who makes colourful quilts with a twist.
A “kangaroo on a pogo stick” is how I describe myself as I jump around in styles but a common theme is the interpretation of traditional designs and techniques presented in fresh new ways. I use many 3D elements in my work such as Yoyos, Prairie Points, wool felt, appliqued and pieced denim, RicRac, vintage fabrics and commercial fabrics.
I’m honoured that my quilts have received many awards including several Best In Show awards, Most Innovative, Best Use of Colour, and Viewers Choice. They have been exhibited in and won prizes in fine art exhibitions, published in magazines and books internationally.
My book Whizz Bang! Adventures in Folded Fabric, published with Quiltmania, has inspired quilters around the world. As the name suggests it covers all the techniques needed to inspire award winning folded fabric quilts.
I love teaching workshops in person and via zoom, with the aim of inspiring quilters to be creative with different techniques and to prove that patchwork and quilting doesn’t always have rules.
